WorkNOW, the Middle Flint Workforce Development System: · Is customer-focused · Prepares the workforce for the challenges ahead · Provides choices for people seeking opportunities and information · Teaches skills and attitudes to assist persons to transition to work · Provides employers with skilled workers to help them be competitive in the world market · Works with its stakeholders and partners: Employers, workers, education and community groups · Works closely with the area's One Stop Career Centers: The Department of Labor Vision --Assisting and empowering the area's workforce to improve its quality and career mobility. -- Enhancing productivity and competitiveness of local business and industry Goals -- To enable individuals to achieve their highest potential -- To ensure employers have the skilled workers they need to compete effectively in the area's economy and beyond. -- To capitalize on the untapped potential of underemployed and discouraged workers, youth and other job seekers with special needs. Local Governance Middle Flint Workforce Investment Board provides policy guidance on the design and operation of the Middle Flint Workforce Development System. The River Valley Regional Commission administers the Workforce System on behalf of the Middle Flint Workforce Investment Board. Implementation of workforce development services in the eight counties of Crisp, Dooly, Macon, Marion, Schley, Sumter, Taylor and Webster is based on the Federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
